ABQLA Bulletin Volume 54.2 May-August 2013

President's Message, May - August 2013

Wow! Time definitely flies when you‘re having fun!

It’s hard to believe that another year has come and gone, and that my term as
President of ABQLA has already started. As Vice-President, I had the privilege of
chairing the 2013 Conference Planning Committee, which was composed of a
group of dynamic librarians, who are passionate about their work.
Ouf !
Have you ever heard the term “Summer Brain Drain” or “Summer Slip”? Teachers often use this
expression to refer to the effects of lowered reading skills that affects many children during the
summer months when they don’t have the chance to practice their reading. “All young people
experience learning losses when they do not engage in educational activities during the summer.
The Dewy Divas are back!
