Announcing the 2018 recipient of the Anne Galler Award

Dear Colleagues,

The Anne Galler Award Committee is very pleased to announce that Ms. Joan Fraser-Burton is the recipient of the   2018 Anne Galler Award for Outstanding Library Service. This award recognizes an individual who has enriched   librarianship in Quebec and has made a lasting contribution to the profession.

Ms. Fraser-Burton is the sole library technician working at the main administrative office of the New Frontiers School   Board and the only person at the board level tasked with providing support for library service in the NFSB’s schools.   For many years, Joan has coordinated and collaborated with library personnel and volunteers across the Chateauguay Valley and the rest of Quebec. She also represents her school board at the Quebec School Librarians Network (QSLiN) and provides professional development for school library personnel across Quebec. Joan has also been a long-time member of the ABQLA and has taken part in helping to organize many important ABQLA events over the years, including helping to organize the annual conference three years in a row (from 2010-2012).

We present Ms. Fraser-Burton with this award in recognition of her exceptional work. Over the years we in the Quebec library community have benefited from Joan’s leadership and outstanding dedication. We know her friends and colleagues will be thrilled to hear this news, and will look forward to honouring her at our Annual Awards cocktail to be celebrated at the ABQLA Annual Conference on May 4th, 2018.
