Research Data Management Seminar for LibraryStaff

Purpose of Seminar:
· To introduce the concepts, issues and importance of research data management and preservation
· To explore the expanding role of library staff in research data management
Intended audience:
· The seminar will be aimed at academic and special library staff who:
o are interested or involved in managing and preserving research data, or
o support use, access and interpretation of data, or
o are involved in the creation and manipulation of data, or
o are involved in liaison, scholarly communication, repositories and publication support for research
Fees:
· There is no charge for the seminar itself - lunch and refreshments will be provided
· NOTE: Participants will need to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements
Seminar Topics:
· Introduction to research data management
· Research processes
· Data and metadata
· Archiving and creation
· Discovery and accessibility
· Cultivating engagement
Seminar participants will receive a resource package of presentation slides, evaluation tools, and a key resource list.
