Submission Guidelines
The ABQLA Bulletin accepts submissions of book reviews, opinion pieces on library-related issues, emerging technologies, suggested readings, websites, and any other topics relevant to libraries in Quebec.
Articles will appear in both the print and online versions of the ABQLA Bulletin. Note that some items might be edited for length for inclusion in the print publication.
TEXT
Features, reports, announcements, press releases…
- Submit documents as e-mail attachments.
- Documents should be in Word (.rtf, .doc, .docx) or Google Documents format
- Please contact the editors before submitting articles that have more than 750 words.
- Short announcements are always welcome; we want to promote you to your peers. No matter how short your submission is, put it in an attached document.
- Use Times or Times New Roman 12 point font, single spaced.
If you need to make a change to a submission, please re-submit the entire document, with your revisions: clearly indicated in the Track Changes/editing feature in Word OR clearly highlighted OR in bold.
PHOTOS
- Submit your photos as JPGs.
- Scan size should be at 300 dpi, necessary for high-quality reproduction.
- Clearly name your photos. Do not give them coded names that only you or your camera would recognize. If you are submitting photos to go along with an article, please give them all related names. For example, an article you have named ‘Xlibrary Tour’ has 2 accompanying photos. Titling them ‘Xlibrary Tour1’ and ‘Xlibrary Tour2.' will help when we are putting everything together.
- Fully identify the subject matter in the photos. In the body of your e-mail, clearly identify each photo with the name you have given it, provide the full names of everyone in the picture, and the name of the person who took the picture. Please include all other relevant information: date, place, etc.
CONTENT
- It is the responsibility of each section President to submit or assign a section member to submit a report on section activities and upcoming events. Accompanying photos are strongly encouraged.
- If there are no section activities to report on, an article on a current topic of interest relevant to that section is to be submitted. These non-event-related submissions may include discussion of a recent hot topic in the field, resources for librarians, suggested reading, etc.
- We want to hear from all members, not just section heads! Opinion pieces on library-related issues, emerging technologies, suggested readings, websites… bring it on!
