IFLA - Global Vision Discussion Group, 6 July 2018

On behalf of ABQLA, ABPQ, and ASTED we would like to cordially invite you to attend IFLA’s Global Vision discussion meeting, which will be held on Friday July 6th 2018 at 2:00PM at McGill University’s Humanities and Social Sciences Library (McLennan-Redpath Complex).

IFLA’s Global Vision discussions bring together thousands of library representatives from around the world to discuss how the library and information community can meet the challenges facing the field. In its inaugural year, Global Vision engaged over 31,000 participants from 190 UN Member States across all seven continents through Vision meetings, workshops and online voting. The results of which were revealed in IFLA’s eagerly-awaited Global Vision Report Summary. This offers for the first time, a truly global picture of the challenges and opportunities the library and information profession face.

During our highly interactive and collaborative meeting, we will be developing ideas for actions to achieve the collective vision. We will provide participants with many opportunities to voice their opinions and contribute to shaping the outcomes of the meeting. In preparation for the meeting, we suggest you read the IFLA Global Vision Report Summary which identifies the highlights and opportunities the library field face. These will form the basis of our discussion. This is a bilingual event.

We firmly believe that only a strong and united library field will be able to fulfil one of the true potentials of libraries: to build literate, informed and participative societies. We would be honored to have you participate and contribute to what promises to be stimulating discussion and reflection that will inspire participants to act.
