Learning to Learn

ImageThe 3rd annual School Library Professional Development Symposium was held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Montreal’s La Grande Bibliothèque.  Available for all Quebec library personnel in the English secondary school sector, the workshop was moderated by Shannon Babcock, and France Lapierre who work for the MELS action plan on Reading in School.

Workshop topics included suggestions on “how to support your students”, French/English book talks, and new trends in “digital literacy”- QR codes, e-books, YouTube, etc.  The well-attended audience was also treated to a showcase of “You Read it, you get it” public service commercials on reading--not just books—but things we encounter in our daily lives.  Geared towards 12-17 year olds, the theme of “You never stop reading” was launched during March Break on local Global and CTV stations.
