This book depicts a little girl preparing for her first day at kindergarten.  She finds a new friend at school, a little boy who is equally nervous.  Any child who is feeling anxious about the “big school” might be reassured.  It reviews some basic skills that are helpful to know already on that first big day and explores the emotional side of sharing, asking for help and resolving difficulties through play.  The illustrations by Danielle Arbour are lovely and any little girl should relate easily.  Each page details one idea or thought about preparing for school.  The text is simple and could be used to discuss concerns or worries with a child.  There are no parenting resources included, but if the book is placed in the library with parenting guides, it would be an attractive reader for the parent to use with their child.
