Easybits(*) has recently released a new Magic Desktop(**) edition for Public Libraries, and is happy to announce a donation program that is available for the select public libraries in Québec.
Under this program, we ask librarians to explore Magic Desktop, deploy it in the library and share their experiences with us, thus involving librarians in designing the best solution for kid’s computers.
On Thursday, November 5th 2015, the ABQLA Youth Section was happy to welcome two speakers in the world of youth work to our fall event “Front Lines and Behind the Scenes Stars: Keeping Youth on Track”. The event was enthusiastically-attended and questions and discussions were plentiful!
This past spring, the Youth Section organized an event entitled “Libraries Making a Difference for Children and Teens at Risk” at McGill University's downtown campus. The first speaker, Nicholas Warren, gave his talk -- “More hats than libraries: Serving at-risk youth at multiple alternative schools”, wherein he shared his successes, challenges, and strategies for working with at-risk teenagers at EMSB alternative schools. Carole Boubalos provided the second talk: "Programming ideas to serve the special needs of autistic children in a library setting".
